The world has not seen such a scale of abduction and deportation of Ukrainian children since the Second World War. Currently, the world does not have a formula for solving the issue of returning deported people, but Ukraine is looking for methods to return deported Ukrainians, including children. This was stated during a press conference by the advocacy manager of the Where Are Our People campaign, Khrystyna Shkudor, UNN reports.

Details

"In fact, the world has not seen such a scale of abduction and export of Ukrainian children since the Second World War, and no one has a formula for solving this issue. But Ukraine is the country that is now looking for a way out, how to solve this and return all the abducted children. Unfortunately, there is no unique formula for this. The return of all deportees, both children and adults, is possible only under one condition: if Ukraine wins on the battlefield," said Shkudor.

She noted that Ukraine is currently looking for other methods to return deported Ukrainians.

Shkudor said that according to the UN, Russia deported 2.8 million Ukrainians during the full-scale invasion, of whom Ukraine knows the names of less than 20,000 children.

"We have returned 386 children from deportation. According to the representative of the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, the number of deported children is about 250 thousand. But we do not know their names or their fate. The Russian Federation itself claims to have 744 thousand deported children," added Shkudor.

She also added that Ukraine has no data on the conditions in which the Russian Federation is holding these children.

Recall

9 Ukrainian children, including 4 children from orphanages aged 3 to 10 and a 12-year-old girl, were returned from Russiawhere they were forcibly taken and told that Ukraine does not exist.
