Two German companies are helping Russians with the so-called reconstruction of buildings in Mariupol. This may be direct work with the Russian Defense Ministry. This was stated by the advisor to the mayor of Mariupol Petro Andriushchenko in an interview with Channel 24, UNN reports.
The companies in question are Knauf, which supplies building materials, and WKB Systems, which specializes in manufacturing equipment for the production of aerated concrete.
"Mariupol is a sensitive topic for the whole world, and that's why it's being exploited. This means that German companies, bypassing the sanctions, are quietly working directly with the occupiers," he said.
The Russians need to get construction materials from somewhere to reconstruct what they destroyed. And they don't have all of them at the moment.
"There are no mixtures, for example, and they have to buy them somewhere. Even if there is something left in the warehouses, they still need to be replenished, because not only Mariupol is being built. It's also on the territory controlled by Russia, from Mariupol to Kamchatka, relatively speaking," the official said.
However, this is not only the case with construction companies. According to Andriushchenko, there were telecom operators that installed their towers in the temporarily occupied territories. Such cooperation has now been terminated, but the fact remains. And such stories are likely to continue.
"We hope that our partners will react to this somehow. Because DHL parcels can still be easily received. They have been transporting parcels in one direction and in the other direction through the Russian post office without any problems. And everyone pretends (our European friends) that nothing is happening. The chains there are built as if they do not cooperate, for example, with the post office of the so-called dpr. The Russian Post cooperates with it, which is supposedly not under sanctions, and DHL can do business through it," added the advisor to the mayor of Mariupol.
