After the full-scale invasion, the number of women who stood up to defend their homeland by joining the ranks of the Armed Forces and other military formations has increased significantly, according to the Defense Forces' media platform Military Media Center, coordinated by the Defense Ministry, UNN reports.

Reportedly, if in 2014 the total number of women in the Armed Forces was 49 926 people, of whom 16 557 were servicewomen, as of October 2023 (according to the AFU Personnel Center), the number of women in the AFU increased to 62,062 (7.3% of the total number of the AFU), of whom 43,479 (5.3%) were servicewomen .
