The Dutch Foreign Ministry has announced the temporary closure of the embassy in Tehran, Iran, and the consulate in Erbil, Iraq. They will remain closed on Sunday as a precautionary measure, reports UNN citing NL Times.
Details
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised Dutch citizens and residents to postpone all important and non-essential travel to Israel and the autonomous Kurdistan Region in Iraq. The current Code Orange travel warning for both regions indicates that important travel is possible, but the ministry has decided to actively discourage any travel to the region due to escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. The country's embassy in Tehran, Iran, and consulate in Erbil, Iraq, are temporarily closed to the public.
The ministry warned of an increased risk of rocket attacks in Israel and Iraq and terrorist attacks in both countries in retaliation to Israel's airstrike on the Iranian embassy in Syria. Seven members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were killed in the attack.
