The density of air defense is higher this year: Kudrytskyi on readiness for attacks on energy facilities

This year's air defense density is much higher than in early October last year. It will be much harder for Russians to damage and destroy substations and power plants. This was stated by Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo, during a telethon, according to a UNN correspondent .

The first and foremost thing is the shelling. It is a repetition in some form of the missile and drone campaign against the power system that Russia conducted last winter. We are already in the middle of November. There have been no such massive attacks on the power system this season. Last year, the Russians started on October 10. However, we have no right to relax, and of course all power engineers and the Defense Forces are preparing to repel possible Russian attacks on the energy structure this winter

, Kudrytsky said.

When asked what methods are available to repel attacks on power facilities, Kudrytskyi replied:

"This is air defense. Its density this year is much higher than at the beginning of October last year, it is obvious. It will be much harder for the enemy to damage and destroy substations and power plants... We are also working with other energy companies and the Recovery Agency to strengthen the engineering protection of power facilities, both from debris, blast waves and direct hits from drones and missiles."

According to him, certain solutions have also been developed together with the General Staff and  the Recovery Agency that will protect the key most vulnerable elements, including the Ukrenergo substation, so that the transportation network, the main trunk line, can operate in a normal more or less mode, even if such attacks occur.

"There may be damage, but the power system as a whole will not collapse, that is, it will not be destroyed. Even if there are some interruptions in power supply as a result of the attacks. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian power system will survive in principle and I am sure that in the spring, just like this year, we will all say, yes to the power system and electricity," Kudrytsky said.

In addition, he said that Ukraine has reserves of materials and equipment to quickly repair damaged facilities. This season's reserve is even slightly larger than last year.
