The Russians dismantled one of the oldest educational institutions in Mariupol, the Mariupol Collegiate School No. 1, which survived two World Wars. They did this to destroy evidence of their shelling of civilian objects and to rewrite the history of Mariupol.

The Mariupol City Council showed what remained of Mariupol Collegiate School No. 1, which is considered one of the oldest educational institutions in the city, due to the actions of the occupiers. UNN reports this with reference to the Telegram channel of the city council.

According to the Mariupol City Council, the occupiers dismantled the educational institution. They did  this in order to destroy the evidence of how they shelled civilian objects and rewrite the history of Mariupol "in the Russian way." 

This school is one of the oldest educational institutions in Mariupol. It was built in 1894. Before the 1917 revolution, the Mariinsky Women's Gymnasium was located here. The school survived two world wars, but not the Russian occupation....

According to preliminary data, 90% of all schools in the city - 54 educational institutions - were reportedly damaged during the Russian blockade of Mariupol. Of these, 19 are critically damaged, and 9 schools have been completely destroyed. Many of these buildings were used as shelters. Mariupol families were hiding from Russian shelling in them.
