Russian troops attacked Toretsk in Donetsk region this morning, wounding two citizens who were walking to a spring to collect drinking water, the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office reported, UNN reports.

"On August 12, 2024, at about 10:00, the occupation army of the Russian Federation shelled the city of Toretsk with artillery. Shrapnel wounds to the abdomen and thighs were sustained by two citizens who were walking to a spring to collect drinking water. A 50-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man were evacuated and taken to a medical facility," the prosecutor's office said on social media.
The agency also provided additional information about the hostile shelling of Ukrainsk reported earlier today.
"At noon, the enemy attacked Ukrainsk with artillery shells. Two women aged 58 and 61 sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the shelling of a residential area. They were on the street at the time of the attack. In addition, a 44-year-old man sustained mine-blast trauma and chest wounds and was hospitalized," the prosecutor's office said.
As indicated, private and multi-apartment residential buildings were damaged in the settlements.
Pre-trial investigations are underway into violations of the laws and customs of war (Art. 438(1) and (2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
