Ukraine is developing artificial intelligence systems that will help manage a huge fleet of drones. Reuters writes about it, UNN reports .

It is noted that the deployment of AI-enabled drones on the front line will help overcome signal jamming by the Russians and allow UAVs to operate in larger groups.
The development of AI drones in Ukraine is mainly divided into visual systems that help identify targets and direct drones to them, terrain mapping for navigation, and more complex programs that allow UAVs to operate in interconnected “swarms.
One of the companies working in this area, Swarmer, is developing software that connects drones into a network. Decisions can be made instantly by the entire group, with a human only authorizing automatic strikes. While human pilots struggle to manage operations with more than five drones, artificial intelligence will be able to manage hundreds.
Another system will allow for the management of a network of reconnaissance and attack drones, both large and small, in the air and on the ground. Each drone will be able to plan its own actions and predict the behavior of others in the swarm. Such automation will not only expand the scope of operations, but also help protect drone pilots operating near the front line.
Artificial intelligence is already being used in some long-range strikes by Ukrainian drones that target military installations and oil refineries hundreds of kilometers away in Russia. According to Reuters, the attacks sometimes involve a swarm of about 20 drones.
The main drones fly to the target, while the other drones are tasked with disabling or distracting air defense assets along the way. To do this, they use a type of artificial intelligence under human supervision that helps identify targets or threats and plan possible routes.
