The court imposed preventive measures on members of an organized group suspected of illegally cutting down 185 oak trees over 100 years old in the Chornobyl Reserve.

The court has imposed pre-trial restraints on five members of an organized group suspected of illegally felling oaks in the Chornobyl reserve. This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, UNN reports.

Details

It is reported that at the request of prosecutors from the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Prosecutor General's Office, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention on the head of the Severna Pushcha State Enterprise, three entrepreneurs, and a police officer.

As an alternative, the court granted bail to each of them in the amount of UAH 12 million.

Officials of a state forestry enterprise organized the illegal felling of 185 oak trees over 100 years old on the territory of the Chornobyl Radiation and Ecological Biosphere Reserve, causing damage worth over UAH 59 million.
