On November 29-December 9, KIIS conducted a telephone survey of 1,031 respondents living in all government-controlled areas of Ukraine. According to the survey, 55% of respondents want corrupt officials to be punished as soon as possible, even if it is through breaking the law. Another 42% of Ukrainians believe that they should be punished according to the law, even if it takes a long time. A similar survey was conducted in 2020.
Back then, only 25% of respondents had radical views. There is also a correlation between opinions on punishing corrupt officials under any circumstances and people's trust in the legal system. Thus, among respondents who trust the courts, 41% say they need to be punished as soon as possible. At the same time, the number of respondents who do not trust the courts is 63%. A similar trend can be observed with regard to trust in the police.
