Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets warned against the public dissemination of personal data of prisoners of war and civilians, in particular at peaceful rallies and on social media. After all, Russian special services are actively interested in such information, UNN reports.
"Once again, I warn against public dissemination of personal data of prisoners of war, civilians illegally detained by Russia, and their relatives! In addition to the active actions of fraudsters who are trying to cheat families waiting for their loved ones to be released from captivity and illegal detention, Russian special services are also actively interested in such information. They need it in order to turn the already unbearable conditions of our defenders into even worse ones," Lubinets wrote.
He noted that moral humiliation or intimidation in the context of knowing the personal data of a prisoner of war or civilian hostage can cause even more harm than physical impact.
"Therefore, at peaceful rallies and on social media, one should take care to ensure that the enemy does not learn personal data - surnames, names, ranks, call signs, brigade and unit numbers, location, photos, etc. The enemy is insidious and lurks in all areas. And his main goal has not changed - he wants Ukrainians and Ukraine to cease to exist," Lubinets said.
He emphasized that only state-authorized bodies are engaged in the search for Ukrainian defenders, civilians and children free of charge.
