No shortage of electricity, no planned outages expected - Ministry of Energy

There is no shortage of electricity in Ukraine, no scheduled blackouts are applied in any of the regions, the Energy Ministry said on Friday, UNN reported.

Generation and consumption

Yesterday, electricity generated by Ukrainian power plants was used to cover the needs of consumers and industry. No emergency imports were used, the Energy Ministry said.

As of 10:00 a.m. today, there is no shortage of electricity in the system. Restrictions are not applied in any of the regions. The situation is under control. The power system is balanced- the Ministry emphasized.

Yesterday, two TPP units were out for emergency short-term repairs, as indicated. One of them has already been returned to work.

Scheduled power outages are not expected- the Ministry of Energy reported.

Due to bad weather and hostilities, 492 settlements are without electricity, and forecasters predict worsening weather conditions.

As a result of unfavorable weather conditions, 66 settlements remain without power, most of them in Zakarpattia, Sumy, and Odesa regions. Power companies are working in an emergency mode.

The weather conditions are expected to deteriorate today, with sleet turning to rain in most regions. At night and in the morning, ice is forecast in some places, and significant precipitation is expected in the Carpathians and Transcarpathia throughout the day. Also, a significant avalanche hazard is expected in the highlands of Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Import/export

Electricity imports amounted to 690 MWh over the past day. There were no exports.

In total, Ukraine exported 40,805 MWh of electricity in November. Imports amounted to 60,674 MWh, the agency said.

ZNPP

"The water level in the cooling pond remains at 15.67 meters. This is enough to meet the needs of the plant," the Ministry of Energy reported.
