Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused US President Joe Biden's request to cancel the planned ground assault on Rafah, the last refuge in Gaza for more than a million displaced people.
Israel believes that Hamas militants have taken refuge in the area.
Consequently, Netanyahu told lawmakers that Israel intends to complete the liquidation of these battalions and there is no other way to do so than to go to the ground.
