A deputy of the village council, Serhiy Batryn, who blew up grenades during a session of the village council in Zakarpattia, was sentenced to life imprisonment. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, UNN reports.

Serhiy Batryn, a deputy of the Keretsky village council, was found guilty of committing a terrorist act that led to the death of people, and also of illegal handling of explosive devices (part 3 of article 258, part 1 of article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
On December 15 last year, during a village council meeting in the village of Keretsky, Khust district, the convict committed a terrorist attack. He threw grenades on the floor, which immediately detonated.
More than 20 people were injured by the explosion of grenades. Two members of the village council died from multiple shrapnel wounds. One of them died the next day after the incident, the other - a month later.
Prosecutors proved that Batrin had been preparing for this in advance. A few months before, he had purchased two RGD-5 fragmentation offensive grenades and an F-1 hand-held fragmentation defensive grenade, which he kept at his residence.
In addition, a civil lawsuit has been filed against the deputy to compensate for the property damage caused to the Keretsky village council as a result of the terrorist attack.

On December 15, 2023, around 12:00, the village council was discussing the adoption of the budget for 2024. During the meeting, one of the deputies entered the room and detonated three grenades.
