Meta and the US state of Texas have reached a $1.4 billion settlement in a lawsuit over facial recognition. This was reported by AR, according to UNN.

"This historic settlement demonstrates that we are prepared to stand up to the world's largest technology companies and hold them accountable when they break the law," said Ken Paxton, who is the Attorney General of Texas.
Texas sued Meta, the company behind Facebook, in 2022. The state believes that Facebook has used technology that recognizes users' fingerprints and faces without obtaining permission, which is in violation of Texas privacy laws.
"We are pleased to have resolved this matter and now look forward to further developing our business operations in Texas," Meta said in a statement.
