Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba says substantial military aid and the development of industrial capabilities are needed for Ukraine to make significant gains against Russian forces and thwart Putin's plans for a protracted war.

To achieve notable progress on the front lines, Ukraine needs, among other things, adequate military assistance, including airplanes, drones and rapid development of industrial capabilities in the United States and Europe, as well as in Ukraine. This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in an article for  the American magazine Foreign Affairs, reports UNN.

The current phase of the war is not easy either for Ukraine or for our partners. Everyone wants quick Hollywood-style breakthroughs on the battlefield that will lead to a quick end to the Russian occupation. While our goals will not be achieved overnight, continued international support for Ukraine will ensure over time that local counteroffensives will produce tangible results on the front lines, gradually destroying Russian forces and thwarting Putin's plans for a protracted war

- Kuleba reported.

He noted that some skeptics object that while such goals are fair, they are simply unattainable.

"In fact, our goals will remain militarily achievable as long as three factors are in place: Adequate military assistance, including aircraft, drones, air defenses, artillery shells, and long-range capabilities that allow us to strike deep behind enemy lines; rapid development of industrial capabilities in the United States and Europe, as well as in Ukraine, both to cover Ukraine's military needs and to replenish U.S. and European defense stocks; and a principled and realistic approach to the prospects for negotiations with Russia. With these elements, our efforts will bring notable progress on the front lines," Kuleba told me.

According to him, Ukraine has made notable progress in recent months.

"However, this does not require deviating from the course and concluding that the struggle is hopeless simply because one of the stages did not meet the expectations of some observers. Despite serious problems, Ukraine has achieved notable results in recent months. We have won the battle for the Black Sea and thereby restored a steady flow of maritime exports, benefiting both our economy and global food security. We have made gains on the southern front, recently capturing a bridgehead on the eastern bank of the Dnieper River. And elsewhere, we have repelled huge Russian attacks and inflicted major losses on Russian forces, including thwarting their attempts to attack Avdeevka and Kupyansk. Despite the colossal efforts, Russian troops failed to make any gains on the ground," Kuleba noted.
