These days, Ukrainians are facing an abnormal heat wave. If a person is exposed to direct sunlight or in a warm room for a long time, he or she may develop a dangerous condition - heat stroke. The Ministry of Health told about the symptoms of heat stroke and what to do in this case, UNN reports.
Details
According to the Ministry of Health, heat stroke occurs as a result of overheating of the body and a violation of heat balance.
The department asks that if you suspect heat stroke in yourself or your loved ones, call 103 - the dispatcher will help you contact a doctor and, if necessary, send an emergency medical team.
The Ministry of Health also recommends:
- Walk or move the victim to a shaded, cool place;
- Cool the victim. Use cool, damp towels, ice packs (to be applied to the neck, armpits, groin) to reduce body temperature;
- If the victim is conscious, give him/her water to drink, but in small portions;
- In case of vomiting, place the person on his/her side.
- Monitor the victim's condition: breathing, pulse, and consciousness until medical assistance arrives.
According to the Ministry of Health, heat stroke is a dangerous condition that can lead to serious consequences, so it is important to be able to recognize its symptoms and know how to provide first aid.
