Government appoints new head of the State Special Communications Service: military man Yuriy Mironenko

A military man, Yuriy Myronenko, has been appointed the new head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine. This follows the dismissal of the previous leadership over allegations of embezzlement of 62 million hryvnias.

The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed military man Yuriy Myronenko as head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine. This was announced by the government's representative in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk on Telegram, UNN reports .

In addition, at today's meeting, Oleksandr Semyr was appointed First Deputy Head of the State Customs Service. Also, Vitaliy Polovenko was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.

The appointments were approved:

- Anton Chubenko as Deputy Head of the Poltava Regional State Administration;

- Volodymyr Kohut as Deputy Head of the Poltava Regional State Administration for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization;

- Ivan Vashchenko as Deputy Head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration.

According to Forbes, Yuriy Mironenko fought in the 112th Kyiv terrorist defense brigade from the beginning of the full-scale invasion . Later he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the 129th Battalion of the 112th Brigade. After that, he headed the Department for Work with Volunteer Formations of Territorial Communities of the 112th Brigade. He was awarded the Silver Cross medal. [On November 20, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dismissed the leadership of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine - the head of the agency, Yuriy Shchyhol, and his deputy, Viktor Zhora.

The next day, it became known that the SAPO and NABU had served suspicion on Shchyhol, his deputy Viktor Zhora, and others of embezzling over UAH 62 million.

On November 24, former head of the State Special Communications Service Yuriy Shchyhol, suspected of embezzling 62 million hryvnias, was released on bail of 25 million hryvnias.
