So far, the remains of two crew members have been successfully recovered. The agency explained that the work on recovering the bodies from the wreckage continues.

It is noted that the Carl Vinson nuclear-powered aircraft carrier was also involved in the search for the victims. Japanese media suggest that in this way the United States wants to deter China from provocative actions against the background of the accident

Addendum

In total, six people are known to have died as a result of the crash. The body of the first serviceman was found by the Japanese Coast Guard just a few hours after the crash.

Thus, this is the deadliest accident involving American Ospreys. The cause of the crash is currently unknown, and Japan has raised concerns about the safety  of this type of aircraft.

According to the Japanese Ministry of Defense, the crashed plane was one of six American CV-22 transport aircraft assigned to Yokota Air Base in the western suburbs of Tokyo.

As a reminder
