Former Ukrbud executive director Oleh Maiboroda denied his loud statements about the deputy head of the Prosecutor General's Office Oleh Tatarov

Former Ukrbud executive director Oleh Maiboroda has denied his loud statements about Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Oleh Tatarov, in which he accused him of corruption in the Ukrbud case. He made the relevant post on his Facebook page, UNN reports.

I have to make an important and unexpected statement about some of my interviews of late. Anyone who follows the events around Ukrbud has probably seen numerous attempts by the company's former management to settle their differences - criminal cases, paid-for publications, mutual accusations. But probably everyone has noticed that all the participants in the process have gone too far, and I can explain this

 ," wrote Oleh Maiboroda.

He noted that the reason for his attacks was a series of events and circumstances, including intrigue and slander.

"Third parties - and this is the main thing - tried to quarrel with former friends, which they successfully did, but I have to be the first to correct this mistake. I will not be able to restore relations with either Maksym Mykytas or Oleh Tatarov. Three years ago, Maxim did not hear me at a critical moment and created all the conditions to destroy the company and the fates of the people involved in its creation, including mine.   At some point, Oleg Tatarov was presented to me as an enemy, the main author of my problems and criminal cases," Mayboroda said.

He stated that he became a hostage of this internal conflict.

"Numerous insults have led to the irreversible - we have lost any chance for a meaningful and businesslike dialog. I understand why Maxim initiated criminal proceedings against me. But I hope that time will put everything in its place. To Oleg Tatarov, I would like to say that my first interview with Censor was an emotional reaction to systemic rumors that convinced me that Tatarov was helping to "catch up" with me, which I considered unfair. I had to defend myself by going too extreme in my actions and statements, which had no factual basis, only an emotional component," explained Maiboroda.

Maiboroda said that in fact he did not even know who was responsible for solving many of Ukrbud's issues, as at the time it was a group of lawyers and attorneys who had their own manager.

"Unfortunately, he has already died today. Tatarov had left the company for private practice at the time and had nothing to do with the scandals that followed. But it seemed to me that his involvement in the cases would be a convincing argument, and the courts would investigate the circumstances of the case more thoroughly when choosing a preventive measure for me. But they decided to arrest me, and now I am under the threat of extradition," Mayboroda wrote.

Mayboroda called his interview with Reuters a bad idea by his lawyers. In it, he said that during his tenure as Ukrbud's executive director, he passed bribes to approve construction projects through Tatarov.

"So, my second interview with Reuters appeared - a bad idea of my lawyers, with whom I no longer work. As planned, the reason for refusing extradition could be the political motivation of the criminal prosecution. And for this, it was necessary to show a conflict with someone from the Ukrainian authorities. So a personal conflict with Tatarov was the best fit. The lawyers worked with my records, and they came up with something like evidence of corruption, which I backed up with my own words. Yes, I hesitated whether to do it or not, and now I realize that I made a mistake. But this mistake is not irreversible, especially for a person who saves his own life," said Mayboroda.

He noted that there was no point in further developing this spiral of senseless accusations.

"Therefore, I will make the last, but finally truthful statement on this case - no documents regarding the money transferred to someone actually exist.  I would like to inform you that I have sent a list of letters clarifying and correcting my own statements to the editors of the publications, supported by apologies," Mayboroda wrote.
