Ukraine will participate in the testing of the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI), which will allow Ukrainians to use their digital identifiers in the EU and Europeans to use their digital wallets in Ukraine for services such as opening bank accounts, storing driver's licenses, using electronic signatures, and receiving electronic medical prescriptions.

POTENTIAL member countries have 2 years to present their national wallets for the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI), Mykhailo Fedorov reported, UNN reports.

Details

The countries participating in the POTENTIAL consortium have two years to introduce their national wallets for the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI) to the EU, and testing of the prototypes should be completed by April 2025. Ukraine is the only country in the consortium that is not currently a member of the EU, but is actively involved in shaping the future of electronic identification in the EU.

The team of the Ministry of Digital Transformation is participating in a pilot project aimed at testing cross-border cooperation in the field of digital identification.

Ukrainian digital wallet is Diia.

Once the pilot is launched, Ukrainians will be able to use their digital identifiers in the EU, and Europeans will be able to use their digital wallets in Ukraine. It will allow for convenient and secure online banking, storing driver's licenses in your phone, using electronic signatures, and receiving electronic medical prescriptions.

Diya implemented most of the EUDI functions long before the presentation of the European Commission's proposal. The next task is to achieve recognition in the EU

- said Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

By the end of the first quarter of this year, the European Commission is to publish universal requirements for EUDI wallets.

Recall

The government's Diia app has started beta testing of educational documents, allowing Ukrainians to access certificates and diplomas from secondary education to doctoral degrees through the app.
