The site of the water supply facilities was restored in Bucha, Kyiv region. Now 9,000 residents have access to quality drinking water. This includes not only residential buildings, but also a kindergarten and a lyceum. This was announced by Ruslan Kravchenko, the head of the Kyiv RMA, on his Facebook page, UNN reports.
"9,000 residents of Bucha now have access to quality drinking water. Thanks to international partners, the city has restored the water supply facilities. At the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, it was severely damaged," said Kravchenko.
According to him, modern technologies were installed to purify water - an iron removal station. The system uses oxygen to deferrize water, followed by filtration through special pressure filters. The equipment operates autonomously and does not require constant maintenance.
"In addition to residential buildings, the station also serves a kindergarten and a lyceum in Bucha. The water is of high quality, you can drink it! I checked it personally," said Kravchenko.
The cost of reconstruction of the facility is almost EUR 100,000. This is one of 17 social infrastructure projects financed by the European Investment Bank in Bucha district under the Ukraine Recovery Program in partnership with the European Union, the Ministry of Reconstruction, the Ministry of Finance, and the Kyiv Regional State Administration. Technical support is provided by UNDP.
"Our goal is to implement similar projects in other communities. We want the residents of the region to have constant access to quality drinking water. It is not enough to return people to their restored homes. We need to create a comfortable social infrastructure for them.
The reconstruction of Kyiv region is being carried out in accordance with the principle set by the government: To rebuild better than it was! As a result of Russia's full-scale invasion of the region, more than 29,000 facilities were destroyed or damaged. We have already restored almost 17,500 of them. Modernization of infrastructure facilities, such as the water supply system, is one of our top priorities. The introduction of new modern technologies for water treatment and water supply systems, such as this project in Bucha, creates exactly the modern comfortable living conditions in the community that we strive to provide in our region," added the head of Kyiv RMA.
In addition, he thanked the international partners who, together with us, are doing everything possible to ensure that even in the face of constant threats, we can not only recover, but also develop and build new modern and comfortable infrastructure.
