The Law Enforcement Committee of the Verkhovna Rada supported a new version of the draft law #5420 on the criminalization of smuggling, taking into account the comments of the Ministry of Finance and business. This was was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, according to UNN.

According to him, the new version of the bill was unanimously supported by 17 members of the committee.
He clarified that the proposals of the Ministry of Finance and business were fully supported. Among them are a 5-fold increase in the thresholds for smuggling, raising the thresholds for excisable goods by 2 times, and the entry into force of regulations on liability for commodity smuggling is postponed until mid-2024. year. He noted that this deadline is the IMF's deadline for rebooting the BES.
The draft law also takes into account numerous insistences of business to indicate the intentional form of guilt, only in the presence of which actions can be qualified as a crime
The voting for the new version of the draft law is scheduled for December 9.
As a reminder
On December 6, the parliamentary committee on law enforcement revised its decision on the draft law on criminalization of smuggling of goods and excisable goods, as well as false declaration of goods, and recommended that the the draft law to be adopted in the second reading and as a whole as a law.
In the first reading this year , the draft law No. 5420 on the criminalization of smuggling was approved by the Verkhovna Rada in mid-July.
