Taliban supreme leader Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada has approved laws that will prohibit women in Afghanistan from speaking and showing their faces in public. This was reported by the Associated Pres.

Details

It is noted that the new laws were approved to allegedly  "fight vices and promote virtues". The adopted laws allow the agency to regulate women's behavior and impose punishment in the form of arrest.

Now women are required to cover their bodies and faces. The Taliban consider women's voices to be intimate, so they forbade women to speak out loud in public - it is allowed only with relatives or husbands.

In addition, women and men are forbidden to look at each other unless they are blood relatives or spouses. This is to "avoid promiscuity.

Addendum

All the laws are set out in a 114-page document with 35 articles, which was reviewed by the Associated Press, and is the first official declaration of vice and virtue laws in Afghanistan since the seizure of power.

Recall

Bloomberg has found out that some European countries are considering reopening their embassies in Afghanistan, which would mean diplomatic recognition of the Taliban almost three years after the fall of the previous government.
