The exclusion of intermediaries from food tenders for the Ukrainian army will mean speeding up the process, purchasing at wholesale prices and supplying fresh food to military units. This opinion was expressed by the head of Kyiv Bread LLC, the president of the All-Ukrainian Association of Bakers, Yuriy Duchenko, in an exclusive commentary to UNN.
According to him, the Defense Ministry's proposal to minimize the presence of intermediaries in food tenders is correct for these reasons.
"Yes, this is the right initiative, precisely to speed up the procurement process, to make sure that the products are as fresh as possible, to get away from these additional logistics chains - and, accordingly, each additional chain means an increase in price, and directly through manufacturers, these can be wholesale prices. It should be faster and cheaper," said Duchenko.
He added that the Ministry of Defense is already actively working with manufacturers to improve the quality of food in the army as quickly as possible.
"Yes, we are working on this issue. First, we already have direct contracts and we are fulfilling them. We are currently sending out questionnaires to food producers. Based on the results of the survey, certain requirements for manufacturers will be developed in order to weed out dishonest producers and intermediaries and simplify the procurement procedure between the Ministry of Defense and manufacturers as much as possible so that high-quality and safe products can be supplied to the army at a guaranteed price under the contracts," said Duchenko.

It also envisages the gradual abolition of discriminatory requirements that created advantages for certain market participants.
