Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met in Brussels with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on the eve of the EU-Ukraine Association Council meeting. Shmyhal reported this on Telegram, UNN reports.
He said that he had discussed with Borrell:
- further military assistance, in particular within the framework of the European Peace Facility (EPF) and the EU's European Defense Industrial Strategy. Shmyhal thanked for additional 5 billion euros for military support to Ukraine.
- use of frozen Russian assets for the needs of Ukraine;
- supporting the Peace Formula and preparing for the Global Peace Summit;
- Adoption of the negotiation framework and start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU.
Shmyhal said that Ukraine expects fruitful meetings of the Association Council
European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said on Tuesday that he would propose that the EU use 90 percent of the proceeds of Russian assets frozen in Europe to buy arms for Ukraine through the European Peace Fund, with a concrete proposal due on Wednesday, March 20.
