Experts of the International Criminal Court support Ukraine's efforts to document alleged genocide and war crimes related to Russian aggression, noting that this is the first time that such large-scale crimes have been identified.

Representatives of the International Criminal Court, who help Ukrainian experts document the consequences of Russian aggression, for the first time faced such scales of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and crimes of aggression. This was reported by experts of the Kiev Research Institute of forensic examinations following the next visit of the ISS mission, writes UNN.

It is noted that the ICC experts in their work met with cases similar to those that are currently being solved in Ukraine, this is work on the facts of military operations in Iraq and Syria, other places, they have proven methods and approaches, but all this takes on a new look in conditions of such scale. And the current joint work of KNIISE experts and ICC representatives is a unique experience for both sides.

In particular, European experts now have information about the possibility of mass use of attack drones of the Shahed type on civilian objects, with which the enemy attacks Ukraine almost every night.

"It is much easier to organize the process of the simplest expert experiment for scientific work or working out crisis response algorithms than when shocks are already happening and they are massive. Unique, for example, is the expert work on the study of shock UAVs of the "Shahed"type. Perhaps our European colleagues had an idea of their effect, but such a mass use, and in particular on civilian objects, has never been before. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure an appropriate professional level, not a superficial, but a thorough expert approach, so that in the future this work is important from a legal point of view. These are different working conditions. We are reviewing the algorithms of our colleagues ' work developed in the EU, but they must be adapted to our reality. We study and analyze what is suitable for us, learn and give our partners the opportunity to gain some experience," KNIISE noted.

Cooperation with foreign representatives in the areas of explosives and computer-technical research is also continuing. ICC representatives traditionally provide Ukraine with technical assistance and support for proper documentation and research of Russian military crimes in the context of war. In other words, we are talking about the practical assistance of foreign colleagues to Ukrainian experts for comprehensive documentation of Russian crimes, which will later present cases of the ICC.

"Representatives of the ISS mission, which includes experts from different countries of the world, have extensive technical capabilities, while these methods are fully mastered by Ukrainian specialists. If we talk about the field of computer-technical research, then it is simply impossible to lag behind, because the dynamics are immediately lost. You need to be constantly aware of all innovations, changes and current trends. KNIISE experts take part in many international events and meetings, exchange experience with foreign colleagues and use the same research methods. All software tools that are used in the world's leading expert laboratories are also present in the work of KNIISE experts. The only difference is access to advanced software options. We always strive for improvement here," KNIISE added.

It was clarified that the work of ICC experts and investigators is focused on crimes that fall under the Rome Statute of the ICC, namely the four main international crimes: genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and crimes of aggression. These are crimes that do not have a statute of limitations and fall within the competence of the ICC.
