A Kharkiv court sentenced a former officer to 15 years for collaborating with the occupiers and passing on information about pro-Ukrainian citizens after the partial seizure of the region.

A Kharkiv court has sentenced to 15 years in prison a former law enforcement officer from the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv region who collaborated with the occupiers and provided them with information about pro-Ukrainian citizens. This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation, according to UNN.

Details

After the aggressors seized part of the region, the woman remained in the occupied territory. In May 2022, she gathered a package of documents and addressed the representatives of the invaders in writing. She asked to be enrolled in the so-called "people's police."

The collaborator was appointed to the position of senior district police officer, whose duties included patrolling the streets, being on duty at the police station, and interviewing local residents to identify pro-Ukrainian citizens. In particular, the defendant gave the occupiers information about all local ATO participants and law enforcement officers she knew.

After the liberation of the settlement, the woman went into hiding, but law enforcement officers found her and detained her.

Having examined all the available evidence, the court found her guilty of treason (part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), stripped her of her special rank and sentenced her to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
