Ukraine may face power outages due to weather, technological problems or shelling, but the country's improved air defense provides better protection this year.

Power outages are possible in Ukraine, but only in case of bad weather, technological disruptions, or shelling. At the same time, this year the country is better protected by air defense forces. This was announced by the acting director of the State Enterprise "Guaranteed Buyer" Artem Nekrasov during a telethon, a correspondent of UNN reports.

Let's be objective, according to the head of Naftogaz, Ukraine's gas reserves exceeded 16 billion cubic meters in the second half of October. In his opinion, this is enough for the country to survive this winter.  We have coal reserves in the warehouses of thermal power plants. Given the experience of the previous year, a reserve has also been created to repair the relevant equipment in case of damage by missile attacks

, Nekrasov said.

He also noted that schedules of blackouts with fair distribution have been made, but they were drawn up as part of the preparation, so far there is no talk of their use.

To be objective, blackouts are possible. We are talking about it honestly and as it is. However,  in the event of bad weather, technological disruptions, shelling, both in the frontline regions and during massive shelling and large-scale damage. But this year, we are more protected by air defense

, Nekrasov said.

He noted that a lot has changed this year.

"If we look at our industry, renewable energy sources, many businesses and utilities have purchased not only generators this year, but also installed solar power plants on roofs, which make it possible to cover 20 to 70% of the electricity needs of institutions," Nekrasov said.

Addendum

Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, the chairman of the board of Ukrenergo, said that this year the density of air defense is higherand it will be much harder for Russians to damage and destroy substations and power plants.

The State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities received three levels of protection against possible air attacks.
