The U.S. Department of Defense has announced an additional package of military aid to Ukraine worth about $2.2 billion, UNN reports citing the Pentagon's website.

Details

The Pentagon has announced additional security assistance to meet Ukraine's critical security and defense needs. This includes the authorization of a Presidential Development Assistance (PDA) package worth up to $150 million to provide Ukraine with key capabilities, including: additional air defense equipment; artillery and other firepower; and anti-tank weapons.

"In addition, the Department of Defense is announcing a significant air defense interceptor package using approximately $2.2 billion in Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) funds. These funds will be used to purchase PATRIOT and NASAMS air defense interceptors for Ukraine. As previously announced, the Biden administration plans to accelerate the delivery of these munitions by changing the priority of future foreign military supplies to Ukraine. As a result, Ukraine will receive the interceptor capabilities it urgently needs to protect its population and critical infrastructure from Russian air attacks," the statement said.
