The New Year's Eve in Ukraine passed without significant violations, but with hostile attacks, the communication department of the National Police of Ukraine reported on Monday, UNN reported.

On New Year's Eve, 17 shelling incidents were recorded, killing a 15-year-old boy in Odesa and injuring three people in Odesa region. As a result of the attacks, 16 civilian objects were damaged across the country: eight apartment buildings, two private houses, a museum, a university and a hangar

On New Year's Eve, police officers ensured public safety and order throughout the country. According to the main departments of the National Police in the regions, 17 people were found to have violated the curfew, the police said.

In total, on the night of December 31-January 1, the police reportedly received 43 reports of incidents during the New Year's Eve celebrations, including 29 reports of violations of the peace, four reports of conflicts, and two reports of petty hooliganism.

In addition, there were eight reports of pyrotechnic devices being used, one of which was confirmed. "Thus, it was established that on January 1 at 00:10 in the city of Cherkasy, a 39-year-old citizen of the Russian Federation used a pyrotechnic device. The offender is a legal resident of Ukraine. The police drew up a report on an administrative offense under Part 1 of Article 195-6 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the procedure for the production, storage, transportation, trade and use of pyrotechnic means)," the police said.

The information about the use of fireworks in the capital was not confirmed, and the video that was circulating on social media allegedly showing the launch of fireworks turned out to be from last year.
