The Seimas of Lithuania has extended sanctions against Russian and Belarusian citizens for a year - until May 2, 2025. This was reported by Delfi, according to UNN.

The most significant innovation was the ban on the import of agricultural products and feed of Russian or Belarusian origin into Lithuania,

- the statement said.

Details

It is noted that a specific list of banned food and feed will be approved by the government. The law on sanctions was voted in favor by 109 members of the Sejm, two were against, and eight abstained.

According to a law passed last year and extended this year related to the war in Ukraine, Russians and Belarusians are restricted from obtaining Lithuanian visas and electronic residency status, further complicating the ability of Russian citizens to come to Lithuania and buy real estate, and their applications for residence permits in Lithuania are temporarily not accepted.

The parliamentary session did not consider a proposal to restrict travel of Russians and Belarusians to their homeland, as there were not enough votes for this.

Recall

On April 18, the Lithuanian Committee on National Security and Defense approved a proposal to limit Russian and Belarusian citizens' visits to their homeland to once every three months, otherwise they risk losing their residence permits.
