The UK has signed an international agreement with Japan and Italy to develop an innovative stealth fighter jet.

The United Kingdom has signed an international agreement with Japan and Italy to develop an innovative stealth fighter jet. This is reported by the British Ministry of Defense, UNN reports.

Details

According to the statement, the parties plan to create a stealth fighter that should improve military capabilities, development and strategic advantages for all three countries.

It is noted that the project will contribute to future stability in the Indo-Pacific region and global security in general

The agreement marks a key milestone in the landmark Global Combat Air Program (GCAP), which will be headquartered in the UK

- the statement said.

The department plans to operate the aircraft by 2035. It is planned to be equipped with a powerful radar that can provide 10 thousand times more data than modern systems, which will give it an advantage in combat.

Addendum

Japanese Defense Minister Minoru Kihara said that the joint development of the fighter is "indispensable to ensure air superiority and provide effective deterrence."

An international government organization will manage the private sector joint venture, which includes Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy, Britain's BAE Systems PLC, and Italy's Leonardo, to oversee the development of the aircraft.

It will be headed by a Japanese official, and the joint venture will be run by an Italian representative. Employees in senior positions are planned to be replaced every few years.

Recall

The American B-21 Raider bomber in the form of a flying wing made its first flight.

These aircraft are expected to cost about $550 million each, or about $750 million adjusted for inflation. However, the Air Force has kept the pricing information classified, making it difficult to verify the proposed cost.
