The heat wave that is currently prevailing in most regions of Ukraine  poses a great danger to dogs, as these animals cannot live without water for more than two or three days. Therefore, dogs, especially street dogs, must be provided with water. This was stated by veterinarian Eduard Kotlyarov in a commentary to UNN.

According to him, dogs need special attention in such hot weather, as it is easier for cats and birds to find a water source.

A dog is unlikely to survive more than two or three days without water in this heat. Cats last several days longer due to the peculiarities of the urinary system

- Eduard Kotlyarov explained.

He also emphasized that in this heat it is incredibly important to take care of all the animals around and provide them with drinking water.

You do not need to force (cats, dogs - ed.) to drink water, it is recommended to show the animal that the water is in a safe place and is periodically replenished there. It is important that it does not run out completely, because the animal may not return there to get it. Dogs on the street can be offered ordinary table water from disposable plates or cups. Sometimes people even give water to dogs from their hands, but this may not be very safe with a street dog

- the veterinarian noted.

Optional

The UAnimals movement called on all concerned to help street animals in this heat and leave water for them in accessible places, and also supported the initiative of Brovary, where water bowls with water for animals were placed in many parts of the city.

Recall

In Brovary, the city's utilities have set up water troughs for animals to help them suffer less from the heat.

"I am grateful to the employees of Brovary-Blagoustrii for the initiative and installation of water bowls for street animals in parks, squares and some adjacent areas. We hope for the sensitivity and consciousness of our residents. Perhaps this drop of water will be a lifesaver for those who cannot take care of themselves," said Brovary Mayor Ihor Sapozhko.
