It is known that a group of kayakers went for a walk to see the results of the flood. During the swim, they saw a wallaby, a type of kangaroo that is characterized by its small size. The animal was trying to cross the flooded area on its own to escape the flood. The men helped the kangaroo get to a solid surface and let it go.
It is also noted that during the floods, up to 800 millimeters of precipitation fell per day. As a result, many people were left without electricity in their homes, and railways, roads and bridges were flooded.
