Three fires broke out in the Red Sea on the Greek-flagged oil tanker Sunion. This was reported by the United Kingdom's Office of Maritime Trade on Friday, the day after rescuers evacuated the tanker's crew due to an attack by Yemeni Houthi militants.

The Houthi militants, who are supporters of Iran and control the most densely populated regions of Yemen, said the attack on the Sunion oil tanker was part of their 10-month campaign against commercial shipping. They claim to be supporting the Palestinians in the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
