Bail for former Supreme Court Chief Justice Vsevolod Knyazev has been reduced from UAH 27 million to UAH 20 million, but he remains in custody until February 2. This follows his detention in a bribery case involving shares in Ferrexpo's Poltava Mining and Processing Plant.

The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court reduced the bail for former Supreme Court Chief Justice Vsevolod Knyazev from UAH 27 million to UAH 20 million, reports UNN correspondent.

To issue a new ruling. Set an alternative measure of restraint for suspect Knyazev in the form of bail in the amount of UAH 20 million

- the judge said.

However, the court left Knyazev in custody until February 2.

Addendum

The HACC Appeals Chamber and the HACC gradually reduce Knyazev's bail. Initially, the court set bail at UAH 107 million. After that, the courts reduced the bail several times.

For example, in December, the HACC reduced Knyazev's bail from UAH 35 million to UAH 27 million.

On May 15, Vsevolod Knyazev was detained for bribes totaling $2.7 million. The bribe was supposed to facilitate the resolution of a case before the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court. This is a case concerning the ownership of 40.19% of shares in Ferrexpo's Poltava Mining and Processing Plant (PMP). In its ruling, the court retained the shares in question to companies related to Zhevago, canceling the invalidation of the sale and purchase agreements concluded 20 years ago.

The NABU confirmed that Supreme Court Chief Justice Vsevolod Kniazev received money from people who advocated for a court decision in favor of oligarch, former owner of the Finance and Credit bank and former MP Kostiantyn Zhevago.

In particular, the case involves a certain lawyer's association, which, in fact, was a kind of back office and acted as an intermediary in organizing bribes for judges. Under the guise of legal services and legal support, the group members agreed with judges to make decisions in the interests of their "clients" (individuals or legal entities) for a certain "reward".

It is noted that on May 3, the members of the criminal organization received the first tranche, and on May 15, the second part was transferred, which was actually recorded red-handed with the participation of the Chief Justice, said NABU Head Sergiy Kryvonos.

On May 16, the Supreme Court expressed no confidence and terminated the powers of Vsevolod Kniazev as the Supreme Court President. This decision was supported by 140 members of the Supreme Court.

On May 18, the High Council of Justice authorized Knyazev's arrest.

On the same day, the High Anti-Corruption Court imposed on him a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with an alternative of UAH 107 million bail.
