A preventive measure in the form of detention in the bribery case was imposed on former intelligence officer Roman Chervinsky. The court rejected the defense's request for a personal undertaking and a proposal to take Chervinsky on bail.

Ex-intelligence officer Roman Chervinsky, who has recently been released on bail, was imposed a measure of restraint in the form of round-the-clock house arrest in the bribery case. This was reported by Suspilne from the courtroom, according to UNN.

Details

Prosecutors requested round-the-clock house arrest for Chervinsky.

In turn, the defense asked for a measure of restraint in the form of a personal commitment rather than round-the-clock house arrest. The defense lawyers argued that Chervinsky had to undergo a medical examination, and that he was an active military officer.

The hearing was attended by the fifth president, Petro Poroshenko, European Solidarity MPs Iryna Herashchenko and Viktoria Syumar, and former political prisoner Volodymyr Balukh. All of them were ready to take Chervinsky on bail, but the court refused to do so.

According to Chervinsky and his lawyer, Konstantin Globa, this is a case from 2020. At the same time, the video of the alleged bribery, which was posted on the Internet, was recorded illegally, it was cut and falsified, the defense claims.

Recall

The day before, on July 17, former intelligence officer Roman Chervinsky was released from the Kropyvnytskyi pre-trial detention center. He was released on a bail of 9 million 84 thousand hryvnias.
