Australia to expand training program for Ukrainian Armed Forces

Australia will expand its commitment to training of the Ukrainian Armed Forces as part of Operation Kudu in 2024. This was was announced by the Defence Minister, UNN reports .

It is noted that since January 2022, the Australian military has have helped train more than 1200 recruits as part of the of the multinational training mission INTERFLEX led by the United Kingdom. to support Ukraine's national defense after Russia's invasion.

This week, the last of the Australian military training rotation returned to Australia. approximately 70 instructors from the Australian Defense Force (ADF).

Over the next 12 months, the number of servicemen and women of Australian Defence Force servicemen and women deployed during each rotation will increase to 90.

Australia's role will be expanded to include training for junior commanders and leaders, focusing on areas such as warfighting skills, including both urban and trench trenches, first aid in combat, the risks of working with explosives, and marksmanship skills

Since June 2022, more than 30,000 Ukrainian men and women have been have been trained to join the military with the support of instructors from from Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, Denmark Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Lithuania, the Netherlands and, most recently, Romania.
