According to Vereshchuk, almost 2,000 children have returned to Ukraine through the Kolotylivka-Pokrovka checkpoint. Among them were both status children and those who had already reached the age of majority.
Ms. Vereshchuk noted that the primary factor in this case is one's own desire. She cited the example of the successful return of 18-year-old Bohdan Yermokhin.
"Russian officials tried to stop the guy and even threatened to draft him into the army. But he wanted to live in Ukraine and stubbornly pursued his goal," the minister added.
