In Khmelnytsky region, a drunk driver of a BMW committed a fatal accident and was detained, the Khmelnytsky regional police reported. According to Suspilne, the suspect is a priest of the UOC, UNN reports.

The accident occurred yesterday, December 26, at about 2 p.m. on the Dunayivtsi-Hrushka road near the village of Mushkutintsy.
"A 49-year-old driver of a BMW X5 collided with a VAZ 21110 driven by a 46-year-old resident of the village of Zalistsi. As a result of the accident, the driver of the VAZ was injured," the statement said.
Reportedly, the victim was hospitalized in the trauma department of the Dunayevka Multidisciplinary Hospital.
"A test with a Drager device showed that the driver of the BMW was driving under the influence of alcohol. His blood alcohol content exceeded the legal limit by 8 and a half times. The police detained the driver in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine," the police said.
Initially, criminal proceedings were opened over this fact under Part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code.
"The injured driver of a VAZ car died from his injuries today, December 27, in a hospital. Police investigators have reclassified the criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for up to 10 years in prison," the police said.
Suspilne Khmelnytsky has learned from its own sources that the BMW was driven by a priest of the UOC. Tomorrow, December 28, a pre-trial restraint will reportedly be imposed on him in Kamianets-Podilskyi.
