The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has returned a 10-hectare land plot in Kyiv worth UAH 100 million through the court after it was illegally alienated in 2016.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has returned to its ownership 10 hectares of land in Kyiv region, where communications for a military camp are laid. This is stated in a statement by the defense ministry, UNN reports.

Details

It is noted that this plot with a market value of about UAH 100 million was returned by a court decision after illegal alienation in 2016.

According to the Main Department of Defense Land and Funds, the Kyiv Court of Appeal ruled on December 21 to return the land plot where the military unit is located to the Ministry.

The agency explained that during the Soviet era, cable lines were laid there to provide communication and power to the military camp, which are still used by the military unit to repel armed aggression.

However, in 2016, 20 hectares of defense land were illegally withdrawn from the sphere of management of the defense ministry.

After returning 10 hectares of this land to the Ministry of Defense, work is underway to return the rest of the territory.

The Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine, with the assistance of the Defense Ministry, is investigating the case in order to punish the guilty officials.

As of now, seven people involved in the land alienation have been notified of suspicion of committing crimes under Articles 364 and 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
