It is reported that thanks to the materials of the Security Service and the BES, a collection of "Scythian gold" worth 1.5 million US dollars was returned to Ukraine.  The struggle for the fate of these artifacts lasted almost 10 years with the participation of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

We have returned home not just the valuables that were taken from Crimea in 2013, but a part of our history. For the SBU, as well as for our country in general, this case is symbolic. It shows that Ukraine never gives up what is legally itss. Just as Ukrainians returned the Scythian Gold, we will return Crimea, Donbas and the rest of the occupied territories. We will fight for our people, our values and our history!

- said the head of the SBU Vasyl Malyuk.

Currently, Ukraine already has 565 antiquities that were taken from Crimea to the EU in 2013 to be exhibited in private European museums.

"According to the investigation, according to the signed agreements, the entire ancient collection was supposed to be returned to Ukraine in the summer of 2014. But this did not happen - the artifacts remained abroad, and officials of the Crimean museums, who then moved to Kyiv, removed themselves from their duties," the report says.

In addition, it is reported that in this regard, criminal proceedings were initiated in the same year on the facts of illegal stay of cultural property abroad.Since then, procedural actions and lawsuits have been ongoing to return Ukrainian antiquities."At present, the collection has been returned even without charging for the storage of museum exhibits. Measures are underway to return to Ukraine other elements of the "Scythian Gold" seized in cooperation with law enforcement agencies of foreign countries," the SBU informs.READ ALSO: After 7 years of proceedings, Amsterdam court orders 'Scythian gold' to be returned to Ukraine
