Two drug dealers with 15 kg of amphetamine detained in Kyiv during curfew

In Kyiv, police stopped a Renault during a curfew, and during the inspection of the car, they found 15 kilograms of amphetamine in the cabin. The case was reported by the Kyiv police, UNN reports.

Recently, during the curfew, officers of the Special Police Regiment No. 1 stopped a Renault with two men in it. During the inspection of the vehicle, the police found packages with a powdery substance similar to amphetamine under the front seat. An investigative team from the Solomianskyi Police Department arrived at the scene and seized 14 packages of psychotropic substance weighing 15 kilograms from the car.

According to law enforcement, there were two men in the detained car: A 49-year-old driver and a 32-year-old passenger, both residents of Dnipropetrovs'k region. The police detained them in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The police found only 14 packages of psychotropic substance in the offenders' car. According to an expert, it was amphetamine. 

As the men themselves admitted, they ordered the prohibited substances online and planned to pack them in doses and sell them in the capital by way of bookmarks.

The accomplices were served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal acquisition, storage, transportation with intent to sell psychotropic substances in particularly large amounts, by prior conspiracy.

The court imposed on the defendants a pre-trial restraint in the form of no alternative detention.

They face up to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.
