German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Tuesday that military and financial support for Ukraine is of "existential importance" for Europe, defending defense spending commitments as Berlin faces a domestic budget crisis, UNN reports citing AFP.
Scholz said that Germany was one of the most supportive countries for Ukraine, along with the United States, supplying Kyiv with weapons to fight Russian invading forces.
We will continue to provide this support for as long as necessary. (...) This support is of existential importance. For Ukraine... but also for us in Europe. (...) None of us wants to imagine what even more serious consequences it would have for us if Putin wins this war,
