The US State Department has called the Russian presidential election "an incredibly undemocratic process." According to First Deputy State Department Spokesperson Vedant Patel, there will be no congratulatory calls from the United States. He said this at a briefing on March 18, UNN reports with reference to the State Department

It was certainly an undemocratic process, and I think it's safe to say that there will be no congratulatory calls from the United States of America

- Patel said.

He called the vote in Russia "an incredibly undemocratic process." According to him, Vladimir Putin "will most likely remain president of Russia, but that does not justify his autocracy."
