"Petro Poroshenko's European Solidarity party conducted a fraudulent transaction that siphoned off 35 million hryvnias from the Ukrainian budget to its own account. The funds were originally intended to finance political parties, but were misappropriated by Poroshenko's political force through a scheme to buy government bonds. This was reported by the CHESNO Movement with reference to the NAPC.
"The European Solidarity Party transferred UAH 35 million from the state budget to its current account through the purchase of bonds. This is stated in the conclusion of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption. Thus, in February 2024, the party bought domestic government bonds and sold them a few months later. Then it withdrew the funds to its current account. Thus, the state-financed money lost its status", - reports the CHESNO Movement.
According to the NACP, before making the purchase, European Solidarity asked the agency to explain whether parties could buy bonds. However, without waiting for a response, it bought them. When the NACP replied that this was prohibited, the party immediately sold the bonds and withdrew the funds to its own account.
In addition, the NACP notes that in Lviv and Dnipro regions, people who won large-scale state and municipal tenders made contributions to Poroshenko's party. These individuals contributed about half a million hryvnias to the party's accounts. The NACP also found out that in the fourth quarter of 2020, the party received donations from people whose income did not correspond to the amount of their contributions.
As previously reported, MP Petro Poroshenko, through his bank , invested UAH 156 million in bonds that Ukrainians donated to his foundation. He earned UAH 50 million in tax-free profits from them.
