Former US President Barack Obama has told allies that President Joe Biden needs to seriously consider the viability of his candidacy. This was reported by The Washington Post, according to UNN.
Details
Obama has said during conversations with allies that he believes Biden has been a great president and wants to protect his achievements, which could be at risk if Republicans control the White House and both houses of Congress next year.
Obama also said that he was concerned about the results of the polls - Biden's ratings are falling and his rival Donald Trump's are rising - and that donors are withdrawing their support for the president.
“Obama's concerns come amid growing unease within the Democratic Party about Biden's prospects and their potential impact on other candidates. Democratic donors, activists, and elected officials are increasingly turning to a small group of veteran leaders to help them recover from the crisis caused by Biden's poor performance in the June 27 debate,” the article says.
Obama, as noted, tries to keep a low profile, but his role as party leader from 2008 to 2016 made him a voice for the concerns of the entire party.
