NATO condemns Russia's attacks on Ukraine

NATO is committed to further strengthening Ukraine's defense and will defend "every inch of Poland". This was reported by the NATO press service in a comment to RMF FM in response to Russia's latest massive attacks on Ukraine, UNN reports.

Details

"NATO strongly condemns Russia's missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian civilians, cities and towns. This is yet another demonstration of Putin's attempt to break Ukraine's resolve. He will not succeed," the statement reads.

NATO stated that "Allies have already provided Ukraine with a wide range of air defense systems and are committed to further strengthening its defense."

"NATO continues to support Ukraine's right to self-defense against Russia's aggressive war. We will stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes," the statement said.

The Alliance's press service also commented on the situation in Poland and the threat that the war poses to Ukraine's neighbors. "NATO is taking further steps to strengthen the Alliance's defense capabilities," the organization's representatives assured.

Allied officials also recall that "NATO is increasing its presence and readiness from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea, including Poland," and that "more than 10,000 Allied troops and significant Allied military capabilities, including NATO aircraft, are already in Poland to protect Polish skies."

"NATO will continue to assess its position and defend every inch of Poland," the statement assured.

NATO representatives also recall the statement made by Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg after his conversation with President Andrzej Duda after a Russian missile violated Polish airspace. "NATO stands in solidarity with our valued ally, is monitoring the situation, and we will be in touch when the facts are in. NATO remains vigilant," Stoltenberg wrote on social media on December 29.

Addendum

On Saturday, the newspaper writes, the search for a Russian cruise missile that violated Polish airspace ended. On that day, Russia attacked Ukraine with more than 160 missiles and drones.
