On Thursday, during a press conference in Krakow, Polish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czeslaw Siekerski announced Poland's commitment to support Ukraine and Moldova in their preparations for accession to the European Union.
The minister drew attention to the project “Summer School for Representatives of the Administration of Moldova and Ukraine” being implemented in Małopolska. The aim of the project is to share Poland's experience in transforming agriculture over the 20 years of Poland's membership in the EU and preparing new countries for accession.
Sekerski emphasized that Poland has considerable experience and observation of European structures that can be useful for partners. He noted that this is a commitment to neighbors such as Ukraine and Moldova.
As part of the summer school, representatives of agricultural administrations from Ukraine and Moldova participate in meetings with Polish experts to discuss issues of functioning in the common European market and the use of EU funds.
The minister added that accession to the EU, while bringing benefits, also brings certain challenges, including the need to implement the EU legal and institutional order. He emphasized that Poland is eager to help prepare these countries for accession, taking into account their specific needs and challenges, in particular in the context of the war in Ukraine.
